A UNESCO World Heritage site, Ouidah's Slave Route (Route des Esclaves) stretches 3.5 km from Place Chacha in the heart of town to the Door of No Return (Porte du Non-Retour) on the Atlantic shore, retracing the final steps of more than a million Africans forced into the transatlantic slave trade.
